Committee Leadership

Job Description

The Chapter has several committees which are lead by Chapter Members who volunteer their time to guide the activities of their working group. They also, to varying degrees, provide content, services or programming to support the Chapter & our mission. Volunteers on a committee must hold a seat on the committee but, the chair of any committee has the ability to assign responsibilities and roles to a new volunteer, if needed. Benefits

  • CE Hours:  Committee Leadership will be awarded 1 CE hour per hour of volunteer work for up to 50% of their total CE hours.
  • This is an opportunity to develop project management, team management, and leadership skills which may be unavailable at one's place of primary employment.
  • It is a key means of networking and building up your personal brand in the green building industry.
  • Letters of Recommendation are available from the Executive Director for outstanding service.

Time Commitment

  • Chapter Committee leaders often volunteer 1-2h per week.
  • Depending on the type of committee & associated events, meetings can last from 1-3 hours monthly.

Qualifications

Required 

  • Ability to attend Committee meetings or to sustain contact with staff or Outreach Committee members
  • Ability to communicate effectively with green building professionals
  • Punctuality and reliability for events
  • Ability to have fun and hang with awesome sustainability professionals!

Preferred 

  • Knowledge of LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, GRESB or other relevant systems
  • Understanding of our Chapter and its programming
